Dr. Nebojša Lekić, 81, passed away on Tuesday, September 17, 2019. Born on February 5, 1938 in Zagreb to Milicko and Marija Lekić (Perić). Soonafter his birth, his family moved to Belgrade,Serbia. Shortly upon settling down, his father passed away, leaving him with his sister Ljiljana, (passed away in 2008) and mother Marija (passed away in 1998). Dr. Lekić graduated from The University of Belgrade in 1964. In 1971 he made Chicago his permanent home. In 1972 he married Bojana Dimitrijević with whom his daughter Tanya was born. Bojana passed away in 1982 leaving Dr. Lekić alone to take care of his beloved daughter Tanya.
As a Physician, he was motivated to heal and help those who needed it most, working at various government centers and clinics throughout his career where his help was sought after and greatly appreciated. His specialties included General Medicine and Family Practice. After many successful years of service, he retired from Chicago-Read Mental Center. Upon retirement, most of his time was spent between Willowbrook, Illinois and Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He loved to travel, play tennis, swim and be near the sea. But most of all, he preferred to spend his time with his family, especially with his loving grandchildren Nikolette and Neven and his closest friends.
For family and friends, his 40 Days Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, October 26, 2019 - 1:30 p.m. at St. Basil of Ostrog, Serbian Orthodox Church, 27450 North Bradley, Lake Forest-Mettava, IL.
Dr. Nebojša Lekić’s Celebration of Life Memorial Luncheon will take place on Saturday – November 9, 2019. Anyone who would like to partake in this event please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Daughter Tanya Lekić-Nedić, son-in-law Dušan Nedić, grandchildren Nikolette and Neven and his close companion Halina Fitzpatrick. Dr. Nebojša Lekić will be sorely missed by his loving family as well as numerous other family members and dear friends in Serbia, Germany, the USA and world-wide.
