Ljiljana Novakovic, age 52, dearest daughter of Trajka; caring sister of Miroslava Vojnovic; devoted fiancee of Daniel Riordan; cherished friend of Vesna and Simon Zafirovski, Renee Jakovcic-Westerberg, Vesna Pirec, Aleksandar Stoimirovic and Dragana Simon.
Ljiliana Novakovic was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia on July 29, 1950. She studied music and graduated from the Conservatory of Music in Belgrade. She came to the United States in 1985 to continue her education in the music field. She graduated with a Master of Music at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in 1988. She had additional studies towards her Doctorate at Northwestern University. She taught at DePaul University, Northwestern University and was presently teaching at Northeastern University. She performed as a symphony orchestra conductor at Northwestern University and the University of Champaign-Urbana and she was in progress of finishing a book of new teaching methods in the musical field.
Ljiljana will be missed by her students and numerous friends and relatives in Serbia and the US.
Visitation was Friday 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Sveta Gora, Serbian Orthodox Funeral Home, 3517 N. Pulaski Road in Chicago. Pomen (Wake Service) was at 7:00 p.m. at chapel. Interment in Belgrade, Serbia.
