Biljana Marinkovich Biljana Marinkovich

Biljana Marinkovich

(1962 +2024)

Our loving angel, Biljana Marinkovich (nee Ostojic), passed away to the heavenly kingdom following a courageous battle with cancer on August 3, 2024, surrounded by her family at the age of 61.

Born in Chicago, Illinois on December 11, 1962, to Radomir (†) and Sofija Ostojic. Beloved wife to Vladimir and loving mother to Marko, Nikola, and Matija. Beloved sister to Miljojka, Radusa, Jovan, Mile (†), Mijodrag, and Bozidar. Memory eternal.

A devoted member of Old Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Church and St. Basil Serbian Orthodox Church, Biljana was a passionate, caring, and generous soul who was adored by those who knew her. She was an incredible, kindhearted, and loving person who was a bright light in this world.

A loving and loyal wife, her greatest joy in life was being a mother to her three sons, Marko, Nikola, and Matija, and being a Baba to her two grandchildren, Luka and Mila. She loved them with all her heart and cherished her time spent with them. Although Biljana left us all too soon, we take comfort knowing she is no longer in pain. We will always cherish memories of Biljana and her kind and generous heart will always be remembered.

Biljana is survived by her dear husband, Vladimir, her three beloved sons, Marko (Kaurie), Nikola, and Matija, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Luka and Mila. Biljana is also survived by her grieving mother, Sofija; her siblings, Miljojka, Raduša, Jovan (Nina), Mijodrag, and Božidar (Vesna), her brothers-in-law, Dragomir (Danica) and Sava (Irina), in addition to her many beloved nephews and nieces. In addition, Biljana will be sorely missed by numerous other family members, Kumovi, and dear friends in the United States, Serbia, and Crna Gora.

Biljana was preceded in death by her father Radomir, her uncle, Radule, her aunt, Draga, her brother, Mile, her father-in-law, Čedomir, and her mother-in-law, Zorica.

To my friend Billie of many years I will miss you very much! Our friendship began in 1980 as began our college days. Later in life we shared good times and bad times. We worked together at Baxter, Baxalta and Shire surrounded by great people. You were so good hearted, brilliant, but mostly loyal. May you rest in peace my friend. You will never be forgotten. To Vlad, the boys Marko, Nick and Matija I send my deepest condolences and prayers. Love you forever, Violet!

Biljana co-chaired St Basil Catering for years, she would be hard at work at Taste of Serbia putting in more than her fair share of hours and participated on St Basil Kolo Board. Most of all, she will be missed for her blunt honesty, her passion for family, friends and her strong faith. She continued Serbian traditions, loved the holidays and gave generously. She has started a tradition within our family that I have played forward because it was so very thoughtful. I’m sure her return ‘home’ will be celebrated by all those that have gone before her. Memory Eternal
