Božidar Jelača, 95, passed away peacefully surrounded by loving family on Friday, September 3, 2021. Born on August 23, 1926 in Stjepanovićevo, Yugoslavia to father Mile and mother Smiljana Jelača. Memory eternal.
Dearly beloved husband of Sofija; Loving father of Dragan (Pamela) and Milan (Beth); Proud grandfather of Alexander, Samuel, Olivia and Nicholas; Dear brother of the late Gojko and the late Perka.
Very young, Bozidar was a Serbian resistance fighter during World War 2. After the war, while living in England, he joined Ravna Gora, Serbian Chetnik organization.
Božidar’s kind and generous heart will be sorely missed by numerous other family members, Kumovi and dear friends in Serbia, Croatia, England, the USA and world-wide.
Visitation 10 a.m. Thursday, September 9, 2021 at the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 32377 N. Milwaukee Avenue Libertyville, IL 60048, followed by Opelo, Serbian Orthodox Funeral service at 11 а.м.
Following Opelo, interment service will be at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cemetery.
Daća (Serbian Orthodox Memorial Luncheon) will be served at Ristorante Bottaio, 946 N. Milwaukee Avenue, Libertyville, IL 60048.
In lieu of flowers donations to Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral are appreciated.
