Petar Ristić, 74, passed away in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on Friday, May 26, 2023. Born on October 14, 1948 in Soko Salaš near Belgrade in Serbia to father Radomir and mother Vera Ristić. Memory eternal.

Petar’s father Radomir was a resistance fighter, injured during World War II, member of the famous Serbian Chetnik Army of the Serbian General Draža Mihailovic. General Mihailovic was in 1948 awarded the US Legion of in the degree of Chief Commander for helping save 500 US pilots downed in Serbia during the war. The medal does not just address the magnificence of the great rescues of Allied personnel in 1944, it directly credits General Mihailovich and his Serbian Chetnik Army with being of service to the entire Allied cause throughout the war and cannot ever be forgotten.

Dearly beloved father of Vera Ristić; Loving father of Dejan (Svetlana) Ristić; Proud grandfather of Andjelina and Veljko Ristić and dear friend of the Premović family.

Petar’s kind and generous heart will be sorely missed by numerous other family members, kumovi and dear friends in Serbia, the USA and worldwide.

Opelo (Serbian Orthodox Funeral Service) Wednesday 11:00 a.m. at the New Gračanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 35240 N Grant Ave, Third Lake, IL 60046.

Following Opelo, interment will take place at the New Gračanica Serbian Orthodox Cemetery.

After the funeral, Daća (Serbian Orthodox Memorial Luncheon) will be served at the monastery.
