Slavko Sljivar, 91, dearly beloved husband of Anna, loving uncle of Radovan (Nina) Sljivar, Aleksandar (Lian) Stamenkovic, Rajko (Ivanka) Radovic, Milorad (Sue) Bursac, dearest nephew of Sretko (Koviljka) Sljivar, proud grandfather of Milos (Anna) Todorovic and beloved uncle of Mirjana Sljivar. Slavko was a proud member of the legendary Chetnik Serbian Resistance Movement which fought on the side of the Allies during WWII in Serbia under the command of General Draza Mihailovic. Fourteen years Slavko was president of the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral and forty years he owned a popular lounge in Chicago. He will be sorely missed by numerous other family members, friends, Kumovi and by everybody who knew him in the USA, Serbia, and world-wide. Visitation Friday 4 to 9 p.m. at SVETA GORA SERBIAN ORTHODOX FUNERAL HOME, 3517 N. Pulaski Road in Chicago. Pomen (Serbian Orthodox Wake Service) at 7 p.m. Opelo (Serbian Orthodox Funeral Service) Saturday, June 14, 11 am at the Holy Resurrection Serbian Orthodox Cathedral , 5701 N. Redwood Drive in Chicago. Interment will take place at the St. Sava Cemetery, 32377 Milwaukee Avenue in Libertyville. Memory Eternal.
