Zoran Nikitović, 58, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Community First Hospital on September 3, 2025, at 4:42 p.m., surrounded by his loving family. He bravely outlived his cancer prognosis by nearly ten years, a testament to his resilience and love of life. Throughout his long battle, he was lovingly cared for by his devoted mother, whose strength and support carried him through countless challenges.
Born on December 4, 1967, in Čačak, Srbija, and raised in the selo of Tučkovo, Zoran was the beloved son of the late Stanimir Nikitović and Branka Nikitović. He immigrated to the United States in 1989, building a life rooted in love, humor, and community.
Above all, Zoran took the greatest pride in his four children, who carry on his legacy: Anastasia, Dimitrije and his spouse Mayeli, Andrijana, and Emilija Nikitović. He is also lovingly remembered by his sister, Jelena Pajić, her husband, protojerej Milan, and their children, Luka and Julija. In addition, he leaves behind many other dear relatives, kumovi, and friends who deeply cherished the time they shared with him.
Zoran’s greatest joy was being a father, so much so that his only request for his gravestone is that it read “Proud Father.” He cherished meeting new people, learning their stories, trying new foods, and always making others laugh with his silly jokes. Known for snapping comically bad photos of loved ones, he had a gift for reminding others not to take life too seriously. Zoran cared deeply for his family and friends, offering acceptance without judgment and kindness without condition.
