Desko Banković, age 73, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. Born on February 2, 1952 in Rečka, Negotin municipality to father Borivoje and mother Miroslava Banković. Memory eternal.

Dearly beloved husband of Slobodanka; loving father of Bojan; proud grandfather of Ana, Maja, Nikola and Nemanja; caring great-grandfather of Vuk and Lav; fond brother of Zoran (Kosa); dear uncle of Nada (Aleks); dear great-uncle of Milena, Katarina and Natalia.

Desko’s kind and generous heart will be sorely missed by numerous other family members, Kumovi and dear friends in Serbia, the USA and worldwide.

Opelo (Serbian Orthodox Funeral Service) took place on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at 11 a.m. at the New Gračanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery, 35240 W Grant Ave, Third Lake, IL 60046.

Interment Most Holy Mother of God Cemetery.

After the interment, Daća (Serbian Orthodox Memorial Luncheon) took place at the New Gračanica Serbian Orthodox Monastery.
