Olga “Ljusa” Plećaš, died peacefully in her home in Tustin, CA on December 6, 2023. She is survived by her son Boško (Hilda); daughter Svetlana; and granddaughter Maja. She was preceded in death by her husband Nedjeljko Plećaš, and second husband Draško Prostran.
Ljusa Plećaš was born April 24, 1932 in the city of Čačak, to the city’s mayor, Miodrag Vasić, and his wife Valentina, daughter of Russian emigrees.
Olga lived a remarkable life that saw her escape her home country with her mother to meet her father in America. They first lived in Milwaukee and then in Chicago. There she met Nedjeljko Plećaš, and the couple married in Libertyville on June 13, 1932. She gave birth to her two children in Chicago, before the family eventually moved to Erie, PA. She and Nedjeljko retired to Florida in 1982 before his untimely death in 1984. She married Draško Prostran in 1998 and moved to California, where she would live near her son, daughter-in-law, and granddaughter.
Ljusa was an incredibly positive spirit who taught others not to fear life, and to live life to its fullest. She made friends easily and everywhere. She possessed a kind and generous heart, always willing to help another in any way she could. And this is how all who encountered her will remember her.
