It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Mileva Veskovć, 83, of Nashville, TN, at home, surrounded by the loving company of her daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren on July 7th, 2025.
Milkeva was born in Strmovo, Valero, Yugoslavia on September 24th, 1941. She emigrated with her husband and two daughters to America in the late 1960's setting up home in South Chicago. It was there she worked for over 40 years for various meat packers putting her daughters through school while building lifelong friendships and immersing herself in the deep, rich, Serbian community.
The Serbian church and her family were the sole focus of her life while both working and in retirement. She was incredibly active, walking up to 3 miles per day so that she could keep up with her three great grandchildren. She often would make friends easily on her walks, forming unofficial walking groups for company and conversation. Everybody loved Baba. She had a quick wit unique take on life. Later in life she moved South to Nashville, TN to live with her daughter Milanka and escape the harsh winters of Chicago. She enjoyed the front porch swing and the back porch couch. The Southern sun was her friend. She was an expert when it came to canning peppers and Serbian basketball players in the NBA.
Mileva is preceded in death by her father Zivan Milovanovic, her mother Vidosava Milovanovic and her husband Branislav Veskovic. Mileva is survived by her daughters Serbianka (Bob) Flores, Milanka ( Scott) Shellady, her grand children Annie (Don) Korem, Mikell (Paul) Henderson, Paul (Jenny) Davy and Crystal (Justin) Barcelli as well as 3 great grandchildren Wilder Davy, Zander Davy and Emme Barcelli.
